Normally I wouldn’t post about something like this, but the song has been getting such a kicking I felt the need to. This song is really good. I know there are a lot of people out there who used to love Bloc Party back when they “just made guitar choons” and haven’t liked anything since Silent Alarm. I get that. But those people shouldn’t feel like they have to complain about all of their post Silent Alarm output. It was fair if they complained about some of the earlier stuff, up to and including the second album. This is the second song after album number two now though, if you don’t like the direction they took you should get over it.
Incidentally Flux met my expectations of the Two More Years -esque fairly bad single after an album. This is genuinely very good.
Well it was going to happen sooner or later but i disagree completely. Thats the worst thing ive heard from bloc party and im a big bloc party fan. I mean its ok, bit to repetitive, As for actual music its just a bass drum and then a small cord which sounds spmewhere between an ablum track from the last album(can mind which one) and flux (which i think is a great song). I can see they are going in a different direction but i think it is one that has been travelled by a lot of artists recently and the style is very familiar and brings nothing new to the table where as what they were doing is main stream guitar music was quite fresh. I think what seems to be a “new route” (im aware that the started off with this kind of sample based tune so maybe “re-found route”) as sound to much like everything else in that area.
Anyway, fair do’s that you like it. Not my cup of tea
I can’t really think of any artists which have done something that similar to this, but fair enough.
Silent Alarm is still their best album (Pioneers their best track), but I really like the sound of this new direction. I foresee an album of awesome.
I think it’s much less repetitive song in terms of structure than most of their ouput to date, but you can say that about any band that stick to verse-chorus-verse.
We usually do so well at agreeing too.
Ken. Dam you Bloc Party and your opinian spliting tunes!
